The combined VND diffusion filter from PolarPro corrects 6 to 9 stops, with the diffusion component of the filter softening the digital focus for a smooth, ethereal look. This high-quality mist filter is suitable for camera lenses with an 82mm thread. The filter was developed in collaboration with renowned filmmaker Peter McKinnon.
VND Diffusion Filter - Mist Edition
With a variable ND filter, you have full control over shutter speed in all lighting conditions. Additionally, you gain better control over a consistent frame rate when shooting slow-motion video. The four possible settings correct the light by 6 to 9 stops, equivalent to a neutral density filter of ND64 to ND512. This VND filter is perfect for shooting in bright environments with wide apertures. The diffusion part of the filter gives the footage a dreamy and soft look, while also providing subjects with a refined appearance without compromising contrast and color accuracy. This soft look adds an extra layer of production value, making it ideal for creative shots in documentaries, short films, music videos, and other commercial projects.
The Golden Perfection
The filter consists of two PolarPro CinemaSeries glasses that you can rotate over each other to let the desired amount of light hit your lens. The high-quality glass offers excellent optical quality and is completely color neutral. The gold aluminum frame features a laser-engraved f-stop indicator, allowing you to precisely read how many stops the light is being reduced by through the filter. When adjusting the ring to one of the four settings, you will feel a subtle click at each stop. This tactile feedback allows you to feel with your fingers that the filter has reached a different f-stop, enabling you to adjust the filter without taking your eyes off the camera's viewfinder. Additionally, cross-polarization and vignetting are eliminated even at 16mm focal lengths.
Defender360 - No Fingerprints on Your Glass
The PolarPro mist filter comes in a Defender360 case, which can also serve as a lens cap. Thanks to the special lens cap, there are no fingerprints on the filter when you place it on your lens. With the protective case, you never have to touch the glass of the filter. The eco-friendly packaging of the Mist Edition II also includes a microfiber cloth in case you accidentally touch the glass.
